It's a whole size bigger than a Golf or 307 and will probably be 307 money. The M6D has won various awards in Europe. I was trying to think of manufacturers other than Peugeot that sell diesel passenger cars in Australia. I forgot all about VW. I do like the Golf, and I remember reading about it in <em>Road Ahead Magazine</em> a while back (it won the <a href="http://www.racq.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/SID-342D8FD3-78EE8A46/racq_cms_production/hs.xsl/New_Car_Rev_Foun_No_RHC_motor_buysell_carreviews_ABC_2004_GolfTrendline_ENA_HTML.htm" rel="nofollow">Best Mid-Size Car Under $28,000</a> award). I'd rate them as a better car than the 307. If you’re seriously considering a diesel, you need to consider the Volkswagen Golf TDI range. I’d rate them as a better car than the 307.
